Shown on National Geographic Channel worldwide, this is a documentary which reveals the incredible stories behind the engineering and design of the Marina Bay Sands resort and casino in Singapore. As the story is highly observational and often told through the experiences of engineers or designers on the ground, the filming crew was able to rig cameras to safety helmets and shoot hard-to-reach places. At the same time, the crew was also able to employ a good deal of time-lapse photography sequences.

In addition, Mediafreaks was engaged to produce a series of 3D and 2D animated CG sequences showcasing the subject of the episode for this joint production between Media Development Authority of Singapore, NHNZ and Beach House Pictures.

“The documentary also has amazing computer-generated imagery (CGI) sequences that help explain and showcase the project’s main engineering challenges.” Director and writer Donovan Chan said in an interview with smf.sg

This is the story of the Beiyi Freeway; the road they said cannot be built. To build it they’ll have to make seven major river crossings and bore through five gigantic mountains including the biggest of them the gigantic Hsueshan mountain that rises several thousand metres into the crisp mountain air. It will mean building the longest road tunnel in Asia through some of the most challenging geology ever encountered by tunnellers and that’s where the challenge in building this highway really lies.

One of the most amazing feats of design, engineering and construction ever accomplished, its story is a unique mix of cutting edge technology, traditional ideals, strong nationalist determination and stacks of massive machinery, huge forces and mega-construction.

This TVC for Tan Chong Holding’s property The Oasis @ Mulberry opens to see an arrowana fish swimming in a huge tank situated in a large condominium unit – all in 3D. The concept was to showcase how spacious the unit was by displaying the size of the tank and the distance the arrowana must swim to reach the full length of the tank. This had to be done in 3D because it was technically impossible to train a fish to swim according to script and also cost prohibitive to build and install such a huge tank. The TVC ends with a pull out to a lavish and spacious looking apartment.

Mediafreaks was engaged to produce this 3D animation sequence explaining how Permasteelisa would go about building the structural and aesthetical cladding of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

The design of the current Supreme Court building mirrors the Supreme Court’s organizational structure. The courtrooms where the High Court hearings take place are contained in the lower levels of the building, from levels two through six. The Court of Appeal, the highest appellate court in the land, is symbolically raised to the apex of the building and houses at the centre of the disc.

The building showcases an abundance of glass in the atriums, skylights and lift shafts, signifying the ideal of transparency in the law.
