Case Study – Viral Contests for Western Digital

After designing three mascots to represent WD’s Black, Blue and Green hard drives (click here to find out more), we were commissioned to conceptualize a series of viral contests to increase South East Asia’s recognition of these new mascots and understanding of the hard drives’ capabilities.

WD Photo & Digital Art Contest

Mechanism – Participants are to submit their original works symbolizing the three mascots/colors and their relative characteristics. Integrated Social Media features made sharing via Facebook and Twitter easy for friends to vote for their winning entries. Demography – Male/Female 18 to 35, IT Savvy users in the Asia Region including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Number of Participants – About 17,000

WD Photo Hunt Contest

Mechanism – Participants are to spot the difference in each of the 10 stages within the shortest period of time. Sharing on Facebook and Twitter will entitle them to bonus points. Demography – Male/Female 18 to 35, IT Savvy users in the Asia Region including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Number of Participants – About 19,000
