Virtual Worlds

You may be thinking of building a virtual world to teach kids Math, a virtual world for adults to socialize and chill out in, a virtual world to support the launch of your new toy, or simply a virtual world chocked full of mini games.

Whatever your motive for building a virtual world, the most important component you need in such a project is the builder. Many programming companies claimed to have the knowledge of building a virtual world, but do they really?

Building a virtual world is a REALLY big thing.

First you need to know which platform to build the virtual world on, what kind of server power you are going to be needing, and then you have to grapple with producing good graphics and engaging games or activities whilst juggling with programming all the bells and whistles the virtual world has to offer.  Now seriously, not many companies can deal with all these.

We can tell you how much it takes to produce a good virtual world, because we’ve been there and done that.

Case Study – The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks, an Award-Winning Virtual World for Kids

MediaFreaks was commissioned to conceptualize, produce and market a full-scaled virtual world for kids called The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks  in 2008.  The instructions were to create a world-class virtual world. We completed and launched the virtual world successfully in December 2009.

Over a period of 5 months, through a combined strategy of Viral Marketing, Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Marketing, we collected a total of more than 200,000 players  from more than 160 countries. We helped the virtual world obtain over 200 excellent reviews  from top international magazines, authoritative sites, parents, educators and players.  We also helped the virtual world receive several seals of excellence and awards.

This was what the September 2010 issue of Disney’s FamilyFun magazine had to say about The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks after voting it as one of their Top 10 Fun Websites -

And check out all the awards we have snagged for Wiglington and Wenks.
